چکیده

We propose a new localization method in order to estimate the position of wireless devices in real time, using already existent infrastructure (such as IEEE 802.11 access points). We present a filtering algorithm that computes the most likely path taken by a mobile node, based on signal strength measurements and a known signal strength map. In our approach we do not assume that the node mobility model is known. The algorithm calculates analytically in real time the optimal correction in the mobile node’s estimated position, using current signal measurements. We discuss how this algorithm can be used in a practical implementation and we evaluate the performance of our method using numerical simulations. Indoor Positioning using the IEEE 802.11 Infrastructure

We propose a new indoor localization method which can be used to track a mobile node . Our method uses only the received signal strengths as input information . In addition our approach doesn’t require any prior knowledge of the mobile node’s motion and therefore doesn’t use a cinematic motion model for tracking the mobile node. We discuss in detail the features of our approach and its resultin...

Zero-configuration indoor localization over IEEE 802.11 wireless infrastructure

With the technical advances in ubiquitous computing and wireless networking, there has been an increasing need to capture the context information (such as the location) and to figure it into applications. In this paper, we establish the theoretical base and develop a localization algorithm for building a zero-configuration and robust indoor localization and tracking system to support location-b...

Hybrid Mobility Prediction of 802.11 Infrastructure Nodes by Location Tracking and Data Mining

In an IEEE 802.11 Infrastructure network, as the mobile node is moving from one access point to another, the resource allocation and smooth hand off may be a problem. If some reliable prediction is done on mobile node’s next move, then resources can be allocated optimally as the mobile node moves around. This would increase the performance throughput of wireless network. We plan to investigate ...

Beacon selection for localisation in IEEE 802.11 wireless infrastructure

Given the widespread deployment of IEEE 802.11-based access points (APs), received signal strength (RSS)-based localization algorithms, which estimate the location of clients by measuring RSS at the installed APs, have drawn considerable attention due to their simple implementation alongside existing infrastructure. However, the accuracy of RSS-based localization depends heavily on the RF and g...
